Information about data protection

As a specialist practice for psychiatry and psychotherapy, protecting your personal data is particularly important to us. Below we inform you, in accordance with Art. 13 and 14 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which data is processed when you use this website, for what purpose, and on what legal basis.

1. Controller

Dr. med. Jochen Stappert
Specialist in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy
Hermannstraße 184
12049 Berlin, Germany
Phone: 030 / 364 431 20
Email: info@psychodynamik.berlin

2. Medical confidentiality

Independent of the requirements of the GDPR, Dr. Stappert and the entire practice team are bound by professional medical confidentiality (§ 203 German Criminal Code, Professional Code of Conduct of the Berlin Medical Association). Any health-related information you share with us through this website is treated with the same confidentiality as information you share with us in person at the practice.

3. Your rights

As a data subject, you generally have the following rights against us as the controller:

  • Right of access to the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Right to rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Right to erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • Right to object to the processing of your data (Art. 21 GDPR)
  • Right to withdraw any consent given, with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR)

To exercise these rights, an informal message to the contact address above is sufficient. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority:

Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information
Friedrichstraße 219, 10969 Berlin, Germany
www.datenschutz-berlin.de

4. Provision of the website and server log files

This website is hosted with Vercel Inc. Whenever the website is accessed, the server automatically collects and stores technically necessary access data ("server log files"): IP address, date and time of access, the page accessed, browser and operating system used, and the previously visited page (referrer URL).

This data is technically necessary to deliver the website to you and to ensure operational security. The legal basis is our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Log files are automatically deleted after a short period and are not combined with other data sources.

Delivery of the pages, as well as processing of form submissions (see section 6), may technically also take place on servers outside the EU/EEA, including in the United States. Vercel has committed to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses as an appropriate safeguard within the meaning of Art. 46 GDPR.

5. Cookies

This website itself does not set any cookies and does not store any identifiers in your browser – neither our own tracking cookies nor marketing or advertising cookies. No user profiles are created.

The Google Maps map available on the homepage and contact page (see section 9) is not loaded automatically. It only loads once you actively click "Load map". Only that click establishes a connection to Google; without your interaction, our website does not transmit any data to Google and no cookies are set.

6. Contacting us through our forms

Contact form

If you contact us via the form on /en/contact, we process the data you provide (name, email address, message) solely to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps taken prior to entering into a treatment agreement).

rTMS enquiry form

For enquiries about rTMS treatment on /en/rtms, we additionally process your insurance status, a brief description of your previous treatment, and optionally a phone number. Where you disclose information about your health in doing so (Art. 9 GDPR), this is necessary to assess the clinical indication for treatment; processing is based on your explicit consent, given by submitting the form (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR), as well as on Art. 9(2)(h) GDPR (purposes of preventive or occupational medicine and healthcare). You may withdraw this consent at any time, informally, with effect for the future.

Delivery and data processing on our behalf

The email notification to our practice is technically delivered via the email service provider Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, 7 Rue de Madrid, 75008 Paris, France) acting as a data processor within the meaning of Art. 28 GDPR. Your details are processed solely to deliver the message to us and are not used by Brevo for its own purposes. For further information, see Brevo's privacy policy .

Both forms also contain a "honeypot" field that is invisible to humans and used solely for automated spam prevention; it is not filled in by genuine visitors.

Your enquiry and the data submitted with it are deleted once they are no longer required for processing. Should a treatment relationship be established, the physician's statutory documentation obligations apply (§ 630f German Civil Code, generally a ten-year retention period for treatment records).

7. Booking appointments via Doctolib

For online appointment booking, we link to the external booking platform Doctolib (Doctolib DE GmbH, Invalidenstraße 92, 10115 Berlin, Germany). Clicking the corresponding button takes you away from our website; the booking itself takes place entirely on Doctolib's servers and is subject to Doctolib's own privacy policy. No data is automatically transmitted from our website to Doctolib.

8. Analytics with Umami

We use the privacy-friendly, open-source web analytics service Umami (Umami Software, Inc.) to obtain anonymised statistical information about the use of our website – such as pages viewed, country of origin, device type, and referrer. According to its own documentation, Umami does not use cookies and does not store personal identifiers; your IP address is used only briefly to generate a daily-rotating, non-traceable hash value, which is then discarded. Data is not combined with other sources, and there is no tracking across different websites.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in shaping our online offering according to demand (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). For further information, see Umami's privacy policy.

9. Embedded content – Google Maps

On the homepage and the contact page, we offer you the option of loading a map from Google Maps to help you find our practice. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. The map is not loaded automatically when the page is accessed, but only once you actively click "Load map". Only that click establishes a connection to Google's servers; your IP address and other device information may then be transmitted to and processed by Google, including outside the EU/EEA, in particular in the United States. We have no influence on the nature and scope of this processing.

The legal basis is your consent given by clicking "Load map" (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). For further information, see Google's privacy policy.

10. Content management system (Sanity)

Certain text elements on this website (e.g. short-term practice notices) are managed through the content management system Sanity (Sanity.io, San Francisco, USA). This content is retrieved server-side when the pages are built. When you visit our website, your browser does not connect to Sanity, and no visitor data is transmitted to Sanity.

11. SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the "https://" prefix and the padlock symbol in your browser's address bar.

12. Changes to this privacy policy

We will update this privacy policy whenever the legal framework or the services we use change. The version most recently published on this page always applies.
